Lacrosse Program

We are offering boys and girls lacrosse for a spring sport for grades 1-8.  The season usually begins right after the winter break and usually ends the first weekend of June with a league festival.  Practices would be twice a week with games mostly on Sundays with occasional games on Saturdays.

Equipment need for girl participants:

  • Mouth Guard (must be a visible color other than clear or white)
  • Goggles (must meet the current ASTM Specification for Women’s lacrosse & must be listed on the US Lacrosse web site (https://www.uslacrosse.org/safety/equipment/approved-eyewear-list)
  • Gloves are optional but if worn the must be close-fitting.
  • Helmets for girls is optional but if used must meet ASTM standard F3137. The link provided shows what the helmet would look like: (https://tinyurl.com/CASCADE-LX-WOMEN-S-LACROSSE-HE
  • Goalie gear is provided by the league but players can use personal equipment after inspected if they wish.
  • Girls Lacrosse stick
  • Cleats

 

Equipment need for boy participants: 

The boys are required to be fully equipped for all age brackets.

  • Helmet that meets NOCSAE ND041
  • An Intra-oral mouth guard
  • Protective gloves designed for boy’s lacrosse
  • Shoulder pads designed for boy’s lacrosse
  • Cleats
  • A protective cup
  • Rib pads are optional but recommended.
  • Boy’s lacrosse stick.

Chest protectors must be NEWER than 2021.  If you have an older model they are no longer approved by the league! 

There is a new requirement for chest protector standards for goalies (which we supply) and starting THIS season that standard would apply to ALL boys players. 

 

Teams created first by grades, providing that age requirements are meet:

U8 - Grades 1-2 and are 8 years old or younger on August 31st preceding competition.

  • This is the age when many first experience lacrosse so at this level we coach the basic concepts of the game, having fun and developing an appreciation and love for the sport.

U10 - Grades 3-4 and are 10 years old or younger on August 31st preceding competition.

  • This age group would be coached to develop athletic movement, skills and more advanced technical skills for playing lacrosse.

U12 - Grades 5-6 and are 12 years old or younger on August 31st preceding competition.

  • Continue working on player’s technical skills and build new skills for the game.

U14 - Grades 7-8 and are 14 years old or younger on August 31st preceding competition.

  • Continue working on player’s technical skills and build new skills for the game.

 US Lacrosse membership is no longer required to participate in the WAC program but it is recommended if the child participates in club leagues or tournaments outside of WAC and include a link
