Soccer Coaching ClinicsOur program depends on volunteer coaches. And just like players, coaches can learn new skills and benefit from additional training. Please consider attending a coaching license clinic this year, and volunteering as a coach in our soccer program. All clinics are participatory in nature, and attendees are asked to participate in demonstrations to the extent that they are able. Candidates are asked to bring a ball, water, notebook, and pen, and be dressed to play. The WAC will reimburse you for the cost of the course if you coach in our program! The G License (Recreational License) is a 3-4 hour introduction to youth soccer, and is designed for parents and coaches in recreation programs. It covers basic coaching philosophy. and methods of organizing a practice session using the 'games approach' for teaching soccer skills. Candidates must be 12 years of age or older. The F License is designed to specifically address the needs and developmental characteristics of players at the U6 to U12 ages. The NHSA has developed three State Youth Modules (U6-U8, U8-U10, and U10-U12) to replace the traditional F License. The Youth Modules are 5-6 hour clinics. The E License is a 16-hour course designed to specifically address the needs and developmental characteristics of players at the U11 to U14 ages. In this age group, our philosphy is devoted to refining the player's technical abilities under game conditions (match related exercises, pressure from opponent, limited time and space). Basic tactics are taught at the individual and small group levels (up to 5 v. 5), as well as basic principles of attack and defense (creating space, mobility, width, height, support, team shape, etc.) There are also sessions of prevention and care of injuries and the laws of the game. Practice sessions are evaluated, and candidates must complete a written examination.
